Cave Script Logo
The Cave Script Logo is based on the molecular structure of hematite; iron(III) oxide (Fe2O3).
Ochre is the oldest symbol found by the Cave Script Translation Project. A fragment of the symbol is found first at the Klasies River Cave in South Africa, where it is used as a label on ochre the substance. An excellent example is then found at the Blombos Cave. Later the symbol can be seen in Europe and China, where it is used to denote ochre the colour.
