Astronomy at Lascaux
Studies by Chantal Jègues-Wolkiewiez have shown that Lascaux was used by people well versed in astronomy. I think that Lascaux could have been a School of Astronomy. It is positioned at roughly latitude 45 degrees 3 minutes North, which is approximately 10 kilometres south of the halfway point between the Equator and the North Pole. I can’t imagine a better place to study astronomy both in the open air and under shelter.
